Recognized with numerous awards for his entrepreneur abilities and community involvement, Sykes has been named Florida Entrepreneur of the Year; Innovator of the Year (awarded by industry peers); the Tampa Police Department Citizen of the Year; the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Officers Citizen of the Year; and Florida Free Enterpriser of the Year (awarded by the Florida Council on Economic Education).

Sykes has also been inducted into the Tampa Bay Business Hall of Fame and the Academy of Achievement Hall of Fame of Sales and Marketing Executives International. In addition to a number of other ventures, he owns Cloverleaf Farms II, Inc., a thoroughbred horse farm in Florida, and Woodford Thoroughbreds, LLC in Kentucky — a multi-million dollar leader in the thoroughbred industry.

Active in the Tampa Bay community, as well as his hometown of Charlotte, NC, Sykes serves as Chairman of NorthStar Banking Corporation and NorthStar Bank, is a member of the Board of Trustees and Chairman Emeritus of the University of Tampa, and a Board Member at Queens University in Charlotte. He is also a member of the United Way Million Dollar Roundtable.

A results-oriented business and financial executive with more than 30 years of financial and operational experience, Scott J. Bendert serves as the Chief Executive Office and Chairman of the Board of JHS Capital Advisors, Inc., as well as CEO, President and CFO of JHS Capital Holdings, Inc.

Bendert, the former CFO at Sykes Enterprises, is known for his expertise in mergers and acquisitions, capital raising through debt and equity instruments, and business operations and financial controls. Throughout his impressive career, he has completed more than 20 acquisitions, divestitures or investments, totaling in excess of $625 million. These deals involved firms in the financial services, health care, staffing, technology, distribution, manufacturing and business services industries and included organizations from Europe, Canada and Central America, as well as the United States.

Bendert also has negotiated asset-based and unsecured syndicated credit facilities up to $150 million. He has served as director on a number of corporate boards and has personally directed corporate profitability by matching operational output with financial organizational cost structures.

As Chief Operating Officer, Frank J. McPartland brings more than 40 years of senior management experience to JHS Capital Advisors. A well-established leader in the financial services industry, McPartland is a pioneer in the clearing firm industry and has served on a number of company boards for more than 35 years.

While working as Director of Brokerage Operations for Estabrook and Co. (which later became Moseley, Hallgarten, Estabrook & Weedon through a series of mergers and acquisitions), McPartland conceived and spearheaded the inception of Securities Settlement Corporation — a separate clearing firm that was the first of its kind in the country. As the firm’s Chief Operating Officer, he devised the pricing model for the industry — a model later cloned by today’s leading clearing firms, including Pershing, National Financial, Southwest Securities, Penson, RBC Correspondent Services and Legent Clearing. The model he envisioned has grown into an industry generating $5 billion in annual revenues.

McPartland was instrumental in establishing the automated clearing of mutual fund transactions through National Securities Clearing Corp, the industry-owned clearing entity for settlements of stock and bond transactions between all broker dealers and banks. He also founded a company in the early 1980s that worked with banks to set up self-clearing operations for banks – most notably Wachovia Bank, Republic Bank of Dallas and Amerifirst Bank. His impressive career also has included serving as Senior Vice President of Operations for Invest Financial, where in addition to managing all operations and technology platforms that served 1,600 brokers in 800 locations, he also directly managed the retail brokerage program for Chemical Bank, which through his efforts became the largest revenue bank program in the Invest network.

As past President and CEO of Legent Clearing, McPartland is credited with turning around the company’s historic losses. Legent never had a profitable year in its history until his tenure. McPartland increased revenues 200% and established strict cost controls in all areas of the company in order to achieve profitability.

Gerry L. Rogers, Executive Consultant and Chief Technologist at JHS Capital Advisors, has more than 40 years of management experience in all aspects of strategic planning, technology design and delivery, international infrastructure development and sales management.

Since retiring as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Sykes Enterprises in 2004, Rogers has provided executive consulting services to Sykes and other Fortune 500 companies. Prior to joining Sykes in 1999, Rogers culminated a 32-year AT&T career as General Manager of Business Markets.

Rogers holds degrees in Management Science and Business and Public Administration from the University of Texas, and has lectured on international marketing and technology at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University, Georgia State University, the University of Texas and Rice University.
